COYOTE ALERT!

A homeowner in the nearby neighborhood of Sardis Forest recently reported their pet dog was attacked by a coyote.  While the pet survived the encounter (the coyote was driven off by another pet dog), please be aware that these wild animals have had a growing presence in southern Mecklenburg County.  Keep your pets within eyesight whenever possible.  Animal control will NOT attempt to capture a wild coyote unless there is evidence it might be rabid.

 

DEER HUNTING ALERT!

Notice to any deer hunters, especially those using a bow and arrow: a partial deer carcass was discovered just off one of the walking trails in Sardis Plantation that had apparently been killed with a bow and arrow.  

 Deer hunting is illegal in Matthews unless the person has a permit , and only one permit has been issued this year.  Hunting within a residential area is also restricted. 

Please consult with the Matthews Police Department if you have a legitimate interest in a deer hunting permit.  If you know any information regarding illegal hunting on Sardis Plantation grounds, please notify the Matthews Police! 

 

Yard Waste Disposal

Please remember that all yard waste ( grass clippings, leaves, etc.) is to be disposed of by putting it in plastic bags ( clear preferred, or leave open dark ones) and left curbside for Monday morning pickup.  NEVER blow leaves or grass into the street!  It clogs the water drains, and is illegal ( you can be fined!)

Soliciting

Anyone soliciting door-to-door MUST have a Town of Matthews license /permit to do so ( a Charlotte license isn't relevant). Ask to see their Matthews License, and if they cannot produce it please call the Matthews Police to report them.

 

Color Swatches

We have master color swatches of approved Sardis Plantation colors.  These are available to borrow from the President or the Architectural Committee to get properly matching paints mixed for exterior house painting, trim, shutters, etc..

ACC Forms

Reminder: you need to submit an Architectural Control Committee Form ( located on the Docs & Forms link) for approval of external work to your house or yard that affects appearance.  Even if you believe you are simply repairing rather than changing anything, it's recommended that you submit a form so that a record can be maintained if future questions arise.  Please contact the Architectural committee for any questions.
